Anderson has retired from limited over cricket. Broad hasn't been picked for 18 months and is way down the pecking order.

If they play Ali as their front line spinner than theyre going to get slaughtered.

You think you're a genius but you don't understand simple concepts. I'll spell it out for you this once. I wasn't linking sabermetrics and intelligence. I was mocking your reliance on irrelevancies by using it an irrelevant context.

Now you see why I don't bother with my "A game". You'd drown in a bowl of soup

How did NZ go in the last World Cup?

Give an ODI series meaning a la World Cup and Australia go close or win it.

Well, we did go close.

But there's definitely truth to what you are saying.

The thing is though, our expectations are definitely set lower. The NZ cricket fan is accustomed to defeat and disappointment, so we're a lot more philosophical about our results.

Imho nz are better than England.

People will figure out their slog blitzkrieg batting and limited bowling attack by 2019.

And choke at home.

Exactly.

I cAnt see England as semi finalists in 2019 even at home.

They won't handle the pressure of hosts and burden of expectation winning all these nuffy games.

My final 4 are Australia, NZ, Pakistan and South Africa.

Smokeys Afghanistan.

No India?

Eng B win against the odds.

No Stoakes. No Woakes. Against a team of 4 specialist bowlers.

Wow.

I'm shocked.

Hiney, please explain.

Surely bowlers don't need to score runs?
You are comparing a real game to a made up world XI you utter boring f**kstick.

Woakes doesn’t get in a world side because his bowling is gash. How hard is that to understand you Sabermetric humping merkin????

Well, going by Champions Trophy form in England, NZ lost to England and Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy, so I think NZ has fair bit of work to do between now and then. It remains the same issue for NZ, an unreliable middle order after Taylor.

NZ was looking good to beat Australia, who also lost to England. So Australia has some work to do to get their game back to scratch. I think Australia are missing Watto and Faulkner's output as allrounders myself from when they were on top last.

India was definitely the favorite heading into the final.

Oh right, the made up world xi ignores runs made by a number 8, but the real game doesn't?

Oh gotcha now Hiney. That makes perfect sense. So Woakes isn't good enough for a make believe team because he only plays real games and scores real runs. A World XI doesn't recognize runs made by a number 8.

Or maybe, just maybe, there is room to pick the 3 best bowlers and have an allrounder at 8. Maybe that is why England and South Africa do it for their own national teams?

Not dimentia.

Hiney and I disagreed over the number 8 role, and you and Always Green et al involved yourselves.

Hiney thought his eyesight should persuade me more than calculations. I disagreed and have suffered insults.

So now, you, Always Green and Hiney are fair game. Deal with it.
We we’re talking about a world XI you cretin.

Of course in a real game you would be wanting as much batting depth as possible. Way to twist a debate to try and win an argument that is totally different.

Anti cricket is a perfect name for you because you are trying your best to ruin one of the better cricket forums on the internet with your inane boring drivel.

Wow. you sure have changed your tune.

So for real games, you want a number 8 who can bat well? But you don't want that reflected in World XI's?

May I ask why? Why the double standard between what people want in a team on the field, and one that is honored of being the best currently playing for teams that play on the field?

FMD you are more painful than a commentary stint with Chaps and KP.

If we were playing the world cup this year my semi finalists would be India, NZ, England, SA.

India have improved in a key aspect - they now have decent pace bowlers. Any batting line up with Sharma and Kohli are going to go far.

NZ rely heavily on Guptil and are great in their own conditions where Boult and occasionally southee do well. The conditions on England will be batting friendly unless it rains. Of the 4 they are most likely to be replaced.

England are playing a great style and bat deep etc. They arr still capable of collapse and I'm not convinced about Roy and especially Hales.

SA - always strong, ABVD class, but he needs to score big against the big boys, not just the Windies. Choke factor huge.

Pakistan are the dark horses as usual although their batting is very poor still.

Australia will be better and our weaknesses are well known.

Either one will take the place of one of the 4 I mentioned in the real deal.
