Pretty sure the SCG Trust has told the AFL to get stuffed as has the Gabba.

You can predict that the AFL whinge about the grounds will come up in April like it does every year.

There could also be ramifications for cricket with the SCG Trust leaving the door ajar for the introduction of a drop-in pitch, of which former chairman Rodney Cavalier was a steadfast opponent.

But it appears the current board, led by Tony Shepherd, who is chairman of AFL club Greater Western Sydney, has a more sympathetic view.

"There's a great old saying those people who remember their history last a lot longer than those that don't. We've done our very best here to keep everybody's memories clear about the heritage," said the Trust's deputy chairman Rod McGeoch.

"I don't think the Trust will ever give up on that but we are in the 21st century, we're obliged to give our hirers the best experience we can possibly give them and somewhere in there we're going to have to land on an answer but it hasn't hit our board or the Trust yet."

The Swans hierarchy told Trust management during negotiations of their wish for a drop-in wicket, as that would eliminate the prospect of glue pots in the event of heavy rain during the football season.

The fact the Trust is entertaining the idea is symbolic of the greater pull the Swans now have with the venue.

Yeah he is a twat......but I have to say Clarke's biggest failure as Captain, should have told his mate he is @ 6 and nothing more.

Same for the coaches, state and country.

So yeah he is a twat, but people enable it rather than squash it.

If smiify gets there he will have 5 hundreds in 22 tests, 1 more than Watson in 52 tests.

Watson could have been a quality contributor @ 6, but thinks he is Bradman.

Quite a few 50's and the odd hundred is what you want, partnered with the odd wicket, that is what he supplied.

But number 3 should be scoring 100s, 200s...................he does not, and does bowl much.

Shane Watson is NOT a number 3, period!

From 2017 the Swans are also going to stop playing at ANZ Stadium, having all their games at the SCG instead. So that could influence the decision of a drop in pitch.

Steve Smith has improved out of sight as a batsmen ever since he gave up on trying to become an all-rounder and started bowling less and less whilst concentrating more on his batting,Matt Wade give up the gloves and do the same my homie.

If that is the case, there will be definitely be more than a 50% chance a drop-in SCG pitch will eventuate. Gone are the days when the SCG was a rank-turner, the Aussies used to play two front-line spinners (e.g. Warne and MacGill) and even part-time offies like Carl Hooper and Allan Border used to get sharp turn.

This.

I admit, I bagged the crap out of him during the 2010/11 Ashes series (although in fairness to him, he was only 21 at the time), but he has really improved out of sight since making his way into the side during our ill-fated tour of India last year.

he still bowls and he actually looks to be bowling bit better than he did back then

he went OK against the Pakis but he is only part timer, wouldn't call him an all rounder
