Don’t be jealous
Dont be a dck. Redcliffe didnt merge with Falcons, there is no reason Easts have to merge with Jets to 'represent' the region. In fact they are going to be Queensland Firehawks and represent the whole state apparently lol

I wouldn't have minded the Tigers but they aren't ideal. They are an inner city Brisbane club that would basically be a carbon copy of the Broncos. Having said that, I wouldn't have hated it if they got in. They are a great club, but their current thinking shows you that it might not have been the Brisbane 2 you were wanting.

Re: the AFL academy in the South-West (which is a red herring because it's just a stadium for AFLW and training base), the AFL pre-Dolphins pumped heaps of money into trying to own North Brisbane through their Burpengary setup.

Regardless of the choice of Brisbane 2, there would have always been calls for a third club. If the Tigers got in there might have been a call for a fourth because they still would have left the north and west unattended.

The bigger picture here is that the NRL are sewing up a huge RL heartland and are set to grow with SEQ into the future.

Dolphins up north
Broncos in the city
Titans down south
Jets out West (final piece of the puzzle)

If it's the Firehawks then great, but their current bid idea does not focus on the west. 8 games Suncorp, four games in regional QLD with Cairns and Mackay being talked about, which is really odd being that it is Cowboys territory.

The Tigers are better off merging their bid with the Jets to get the I.P. that resonates with the west, and going to the NRL and saying, here is your western corridor club, we have the supporters ( through the Jets), the money (Tigers), the stadium (big SEQ derbies at Suncorp and get re-commitment from local and state Government to build the boutique stadium in Ipswich that was part of the Jets original bid). The NRL will probably rubber stamp them on the spot if they did that.
I like your proposal.

Brisbane Jets could be a great brand. So could South Brisbane Jets. They could even go with South Queensland Jets to cover Toowoomba.

What I like about the Brisbane Tigers is they're investing heavily in Logan. They've fielded junior clubs in Rochedale South and Springwood for decades. They've recently built another at Flagstone. Another is about to be built in Yarrabilba. They're laying the seeds for Logan to be the nursery. All they need to do now is get the Souths Logan Magpies and Ipswich Jets under their wing and set up pathways in Ipswich and southern Brisbane. If they do all of this then they will become the next Penrith Panthers. The amount of juniors they will convert into NRL players will benefit the entire competition. The money on offer from corporate and sponsorship would be astronomical. No other bid can bring both of these resources to the game.

Playing at different venues seems like something just yo appease everybody. South Brisbane will be home base for next expansion

What are you basing this on?

None of the press releases I've read say they're going to rebrand as rhe Queensland Firehawks.
Did you watch the video? Richo has said they will be called queensland firehawks and play 8 games at Suncorp and 4 games in country Qlnd

He also said they all but had an agreement with the PNG bid for it to be owned by Easts and play 8 games at Suncorp and 4 in Port Moresby before Albo started flashing the cash.

So png was getting a team with or without albos cash

see what it’s like to be popular

He also stated how important southern Brisbane was.

So PNG/Brisbane were putting a team together before Albo splashed the cash?

I thought you said Perth was guaranteed to get the 18th licence?

RL administrators and stakeholders don't share your opinion.

If they did then we would have teams in Adelaide and Perth.

They may not but that wasn’t the point of the post.

That post was in response to you whinging about what a supporter who doesn’t like the two teams in Brisbane is going to do. It is a reductive argument - what happens if we get to the third team or the fourth team or the fifth team? Are you still going to argue that some people don’t like those teams have to get a team. When does it end? You are never going to please everyone.

AwFuL will be happy to take disgruntled RL fans from SEQ under their wing. They've invested tremendously in the region for 30 years.
