Yay Brothers :D We've assembled a fine outfit. My dad went out there to cast his eye over the Brothers and he was pleased with what he saw.

Aaron Fluke is playing with Wenty again. He has had several seasons with Cabra but went to Wenty in 2007 when Cabra said they had no room for him and then went back to Cabra last season. He is a very useful guy who can play every position in the backline or slot in as interchange hooker.

Date: 10/05/2009Reds Go Down in Another Close One

The WA Reds again lamented the one that got away as they went down in a close game at Ken Allen Field in Fremantle. They fought hard all night and never gave the game away and were visibly disappointed as the final siren sounded.
With a final score of 28 to 34 they could have got there with a few more minutes against the Southern Districts Rebels.
They knew they had to win at home but the final score probably reflected the way the game was played. There again were a couple of crucial referee decisions, but the Reds must learn how to turn over the game at the end.
With a penalty call at 25 metres with 10 minutes to go the Rebels chose to go for goal which gave them a 6 point lead and was always going to make it hard for the Reds.
The local crowd was very supportive of the side though as they left the field and cheered them off after a very entertaining game.
The first half was played at a great pace from both sides and the score would have given the Reds hope that their fitness would work for them in the second half.
Daniel Evans was the first to cross at the five minute mark to give the Reds the early advantage, but every time the Reds scored the Rebels answered.
The first came from the Rebels with a quick transfer across the field which caught the Reds short on the right hand side. Most of the tries to the Rebels in the first half were the result of poor marking by the Reds as they seemed to find the space out wide or the holes in the middle.
The best play of the half resulted in a try to James Blake who was on the end of two good forward moves firstly a break in the middle by Taurean Sheehan then at 15 metres by Daniel Evans.
For the first 15 minutes of the second half both sides made some poor choices with simple errors being made. During this time the Reds had more of the ball but they could not make any progress as the Rebels defended close to their line.
The Rebels had the better of the middle of the half as they went on the score two tries to the Reds one. It was a disappointing finish for the home side.
Best players for the Reds included Daniel Evans at half back and Gareth Morton at second row.
The Reds head to Sydney next week to take on the Chester Hill Rhinos in a game they should and must win before the next home game at Joondalup on May 31.

Mounties star, Damien Mostyn, will play his first game of the season after completing an 8 game suspension. Daniel Russell, who was not able to play a second season in the UK after visa problems, filled in for Mosytn in the early part of the season but more recently has joined his brother, John at Bellingen, playing under captain coach, Josh White. The Russell boys previously played together in the North Sydney Premier League team.

Cabra take on Wentys this Saturday & Aron Fluke will be playing in the centres against his former club. Be Interesting to see who comes out on Top in this Local Derby as Wenty Magpies are quite capable of Beating any Team in The BRC Comp.. if they can get into a Rhythm & get it.. 'All Together ..'on the Day.. So Lets just hope they don't Get into a Rhythm & have a Miserable Day on the paddock come Saturday...ha ha lol !!!!.....

Last weeks results:

Windsor 26 Bulls 18
Cabra 42 Campbelltown 26
Chester Hill 26 WA Reds 24
Brothers 30 Mounties 16
Southern Districts 34 Wenty 20

Table
Brothers 14
Cabra 12
Southern Districts 11
Bulls, Mounties, Wenty, Windsor 10
Campbelltown, Chester Hill 4
WA Reds 1

While the top 3 sides from last year sit in the middle of the table, the new team, Brothers, is doing it easy. The have very few name players but just keep going in attack and defence for the full 80 minutes.

Yeah, ..I Think it's Great how the Season has Panned out so far !!.. Thats the Great thing about The BRC competition..it is so unpredictable as to which Team will win on the Day. Although im not a Fan of the Points System, u have to say it has sort of even things out a Bit. NRL & NSW CUP in my Opionion has Become too Much of a Defensive Structured Game.. Where as BRC '..anything goes like Ben Ikin Calls it " Reggae Footy "... yah.. mi mun full on ' pon di Rugbi !!.... ha ha lmao..

Real sampson and goliath this weekend with our winless Reds taking on Brothers. Should be a big crowd at MES pre the NRl game to cheer the Reds on but given our performances this season I can see only one result in this game.

Miracles do happen and we would need one on Saturday if we are to get our first win!

With the Reds Brothers game being the real tug at the heart strings game (my support for the Reds versus the fact my family's closely involved with Brothers and the support there is through that, I'm glad the Reds didn't get flogged, 30-22 Brothers end result (through constant score updates from people at the game), probably the biggest regular season Bundy crowd there will ever be.

Oh yeah, Chester Hill 38-36 Bankstown, f**king suck on that one! :D

The campbelltown team has only won 2 games this yr but they are not that bad a side, i went out and watched them at wenty, they have pushed sides for the full 80 in previous weeks and i think are unlucky to not get a few more wins.

They just lack that killer instinct which wenty have and that was the difference, the class and experience showed in the end.

Sounds like the Reds! We have been very competitive in most games but always seem to have a 10-15 minute period that costs us the game. Oh well we can only get better!

Cabra have plenty of depth. Aiga and Rimmer returned to the club mid season and Trent Trotter came over from Cronulla and Alan Burns appears to be back from about 9 weeks out.

But funnily enough the Reds should have won the first time but the ref put 2 players in the bin within a minute.

Reds Lose a Tough One in Rockingham

On a wet and windy night in Rockingham the Reds were tested by the elements and Cabramatta Blues but could not get up against a well drilled side. Going down 12 to 24 the spirit shown by the team was strong.
Coming off a week when the coach Chris Dever stood down, the team was able to put up a good show against the second placed Cabramatta. They had plenty of the ball but did not make the most of the opportunities available.
Stand in Coach Justin Nixon believes it was the errors at crucial times which cost them the game. “We had enough of the ball but we failed to make the right decisions to win, there were some good passages, but again we needed to be consistent over the full 80 minutes”.
It was a good first half with the Reds and Blues both going at it together. The Blues scored three tries before the Reds scored, but it was the Reds doing all the attacking from the 20 minute mark.
The best play of the half went to Cabramatta who took the ball on the second tackle at the 30 metre line and kept passing off without giving the Reds a chance. Eventually they crossed the line after stretching the Reds defense.
At 36 minutes Jason Godecke crossed for the Reds after an intercept by Gareth Morton who followed up kicking forward and chasing the ball down to the 30 metre line. Morton then converted from out wide with a good kick despite a very strong cross wind.
After the break the Blues came out to put their stamp on the game and were able to get to 18 points after 7 minutes, but it was answered soon after with another solid break by Morton who was able to get the ball out to a clear Ryan Dickson ending up with Delane Edwards out wide for another try.
In poor conditions the Reds allowed another soft try to put the score out to 12 to 24. After that the Blues held up play as often as they could to slow the game down and keep out a determined Reds outfit.
A bit of spite entered the game for the final ten minutes after Isaac Thomas was put down solidly and had to leave the field. But it was the Reds who never gave up and showed the local crowd they are determined to turn the season around, but they just couldn’t break through a resolute Blues.
The Reds had a good spread of players with Isaac Thomas, Jon Phipps, Gareth Morton and Aaron Barnes showing the best form.
The Reds have another home game against the Campbelltown Eagles next Saturday at Charles Riley Reserve in North Beach.
