Dragons chase Jarryd Hayne

We shouldn't chase Hayne while allegations are unresolved (hasn't been found guilty so NRL wouldn't likely blacklist him), but Carney's incident was merely the last straw in a long line of several indescretions, much more to it than pissing in a mouth.
Understand mate, so exactly what else did carney do?
Jack Whighton is just told all is good by the nrl after bashing people
Carney did what?
Seems double standards is rife in nrl

Wighton should have been stood down for a while I ageee

But as for Carney, a brief timeline:
2006 - Drunk and reckless driving (suspended from driving)

2007 - lead police on a chase with a suspended licence through Canberra, abandoning car and fleeing on foot, 12 offences (licence suspended for 5 years, 12 month good behaviour bond)

2008 - urinated on another man in Canberra nightclub (sacked by Raiders)

March 2009 - charged with vandalism in Goulburn, 12 month suspended sentence

Dec 2009 - Injures man by setting his pants on fire (not joking)

2010 wins Dally M with Roosters

Feb 2011 - drink driving change, stood down by roosters

Apr 2011 - caught drinking while banned from alcohol, stood down by NRL for several weeks

Aug 2011 - caught drinking with teammates against team rules, sacked by Roosters

Oct 2011 - signs with cronulla

It was very clear to him that he was on his last ever chance when the NRL allowed that Cronulla contract to be registered.

Remember the Hayne Train? Yep, that's how long ago that was the rage & how long ago he was actually any good for a club.

Yeah. Nah.

Offence allegedly occurred on 30 September. Alleged victim has injuries, there appears to be some telecommunications evidence and he hasn’t hit the dock? The cynic in me thinks there might be more to this story....
The cynic in me wonders why was he not investigated in the 1st week of October and if he was then why did we not here about it...and now the media release it...or was it delayed from the victim?. Just a timing thing thats all, so for me innocent until proven guilty in a court in this one...he has not been charged yet!
Inglis is charged with drink driving and we know about it an hour later.

Telecrap reporting this morning that Millward offered Hayne $500k per season for 2019 and Hayne wants $700k for 2 seasons.

Well done Ian Millward. Hayne is not worth any more than that.

What disturbs me is that our only problem was the money. Management was apparently not concerned about Hayne's legal issues.

Correct result, wrong methodology.

The paper is restricted by Hayne’s legal issues because it is currently being investigated by the police (apparently).

As with Bennett, Hayne wasn’t coming to Saints anyway. The club’s recruitment for 2019 was finalised ages ago. People need to accept this. The bottom line is that the team will feature:

1. a fullback who cannot tackle and is reticent under kicks.

2. two very inexperienced wingers, as a result, there’s a very fair chance another player (possibly Aitken or Lomax) will be manufactured into one.

3. centres that won’t trouble top sides.

and 4. a bloke still masquerading as a coach.

Mind you, there’s not too much wrong with be forward pack, although a better hooker and an the acquisition of a genuine utility player would be nice.

A finish anywhere between sixth to 13th is not unreasonable.

Worse case finish will be 6th, based on how we performed in the semis, we came back, showed our steel.

Possibly top 4.

Yep not good mate, too much drink for someone who can’t handle it.
Shame, could have been a long term good player otherwise.

Good sides coached well will target the Dragons’ back three which is significantly weaker than last year.
How come back 3 worse?
Duffy, tick.
McDonald never impressed me, young guns will outshine him
The other wing, another young gun.
Inexperience is only a word, look at all the first year players who totally star and do well
I mean most have been playing league since age of 5 or 6
Now that’s experience

I reckon we will be fine and dandy.

I think Jordan P will hold one wing spot down. He hasn’t disappointed since getting a run in the top grade.

Saint_JimmyG if my memory serves me correctly Nene McDonald was a great finisher for us last season but was consistently criticised for a lack of urgency/laziness. Also found wanting against the better sides in defence.

Flo got bless his soul had easily his worst season since donning the red V.

Pereira played reasonably well during his FG stint. Easily as well if not better than Flo.

Pearson looks like a slick finisher with serious speed. Lomax is a kid who has taken to first grade like a duck to water. Pearson/Pereira/Lomax may not have played many FG games collectively, but I couldn't say with any certainty they will be worse than Flo and McDonald. In fact, I expect these changes will benefit the team.

As for Dufty, he has a chance to earn himself a contract by working hard in the offseason to address his deficiencies. I would wait till we are midway through the season before deciding whether to slit your wrists.

Saints Forever , should a great weight drop from a great height squarely on our Mary’s head during the off-season, then perhaps he may also see the tremendous potential of that exact back line combination that you have suggested .

It would certainly have some teething troubles in the beginning , but gee can you imagine the damage it would cause to opposition defenses once established ! Here’s hoping that they take their place in what I believe would be one of our best back lines for many a year .

Anything else wrong with the squad Jimmy?..or have you covered it?
Great prediction though, you covered 8 spots out of 16 on where we would finish. How about you get of the doom and gloom fence and refine your prediction a little to maybe 2 positions...go on..you can do it!

@Saint_JimmyG raises some good points. I think most here would admit that our backline needs improving.

We have 2 international halves, and arguably one of the best packs in the game. Its fair play to say our backline is our weakness at this point.

I am a big fan of Jordan P, as he plays with a lot of ticker and deserves another shot. Our centres, if they are in fact Aitken and Lafai, dont fill me with confidence, and if Lomax isnt picked in the centres, and shoved onto the wing, then his talents are wasted.

Dufty has a full season to show that he is more than a speedster. I wish him well.

We all want the team to be contenders, ... we are a couple of strike backs away from that IMHO.
