The reason Laurie hasnt played is because Sheens cannot stand anyone showing even a glimpse of what he sees as disloyalty eg Lauries antics and Hasting flying up north to a game to support the boys of his own accord ..Sheens is old school where being seen to be obeying 100% without exception is the only option..…He doesn’t see players sometimes just having misplaced egos.. He misses the point that the players with the egos can be the players who will make a positive difference to the season..a good serious talking to and some kind of punishment eg Brandon Smith training by himself at the storm after his wayward “We will win a grand final at the roosters” comment is the way now and usually all it takes..anything that doesn’t take them off the field for long periods!! Everyone likes a warning or 2 before the final blow.. This is where Sheens and Madge are similar ie cutting off is the first option, getting a constructive telling off is way down on the list. Sure it means Sheens wins the battle, but the war? 0 and 6I couldn’t care less about the celebrating a good footy try or supporting his mates in a grand final, to me that just makes him a decent fella, the one and only reason he should not be playing in the top side is his form on the paddock, and in light of the way the Tigers have been travelling I can’t see a reason he should not be playing NRL.
I don’t agree with ‘blooding’ young kids in a side that is continuously losing either, trying your guts out and getting flogged every week is no way to build confidence or a winning culture. There’s a bunch of guys there that should be winning the odd footy game, let them bear the brunt of their actions. Wait til they win one or two before throwing new fellas in, unless their inclusion is gonna win us a game, and we all know it’s the link between the forwards and the backs plus shitty execution that’s killing the Tigers atm.
