Money is for ten years but sure maybe a new govt comes in and cancels itThat’s why I said eventually - can see PNG lasting a few years and getting wound up when finds and enthusiasm dry up

I think PNG, Perth and NZ2 are the three obvious frontrunners now, they’re the options that NRL HQ seem to be eyeing. In what order? Good question. Outside those 3 I think Brisbane 3 is the only other one with any realistic prospect, could see it replacing PNG if it turns out the logistics of lthat prove too difficult.
The Bears fit if they team up with one of those proposals. They’re dreaming if they think they’re going to be at NS or the Central CoastWhere do the Bears fit in with that? They were Vlandys preferred option a couple of weeks ago.
Where did he say Melbourne2 or SEQ?should we lock in Melbourne2 as well, and perth, and seq and Bears? He flitters around his fave of month depending on who hes just talked to.
Bears ARE perfWhere do the Bears fit in with that? They were Vlandys preferred option a couple of weeks ago.
Has the money be approved? Does it need to be voted on as a bill? Where does that come out of? Is it a direct payment to the NRL or to PNG or overall development funds that includes infrastructure juniors ect?? Is it monthly, yearly or lump sum? Is where it's spent going to be scrutinised by the government? far the PNG bid themselves said that there's no agreed amount..Money is for ten years but sure maybe a new govt comes in and cancels it
Why does it have to go through parliamentHas the money be approved? Does it need to be voted on as a bill? Where does that come out of? You couldn’t dream up a scenario where we knew less about a payment of sorts.. random number made up by media.. got to hand it to them.
If I had to play devils advocate, I'd say PVL is playing this the only way one could.. that is: so long as doors are open.. why close them??
Until there's an approved fund passed through parliament.. a formal offer has been proposed.. and a deadline attached..
Only then do you need to respectfully decline. Even if they knew they weren't they would still have to let time pass to be as respectful as possible!
This is our government! They build stadiums, give grants, take grants away! Cancel stadiums! Increase taxes!!!
Do you really think The NRL are going to piss off the government?? They're being as respectful and nice as possible!
Sure Mr PM .. PNG, we'll look into it , o yes the Bears.. wonderful choice sir and the Jets ... nice well look into that too! Anything else sir?
There's no chance we're adding PNG.
NONE.

hes literally talked them all up over the last 12 months, why should we take what he said this week as gospel given he’s swung around like a hills hoist in a cyclone Over the last year.
There goes Perth Red's claim that the NRL doesn't want another team in Brisbane!" We will look at the data and where the participation levels are. If there is a demand, we will supply it. There has to be a demand."
Bit of a blow for Perth hopes...

Good analysis. Vlandys is talking up PNG because the Government has been also. He can say what he is saying with a straight face because there is a tonne of evidence of Government support. If the Government backtracks then it’s legitimate for the ARLC to look elsewhere (Perth) for the 18th team. It’s a no lose situation.I agree.
It's just good leadership, another news article written and the NRL are topic of conversation once more.
Free publicity by the truck load.
Also what people don't get...
Until the 18th team is announced or location there's no reason to rule places out, none.
That's why PNG's chances are well over blown, they're not going to hurt the ambition of the PM until it's absolutely necessary.
Think about the reaction if he rules any particular bid out too. Hes immediately putting fans in that region offside. Better to keep everyone interested and hopeful at this point.Good analysis.
