Actually no, Denis has never been in charge of the Stadium.

The Upgrades were done for the Eels, and the venue was compared with Suncorp for the upgrades, I was asked to help provide some proof on that one. 2006 the Eels were the only Tenant and the Power had ceased playing.

Sevens can take all the personal pot shots at me you want. Seriously I am big enough to take them, Literally, but you speak to me of bias is the biggest joke I have seen from you lips (or figures) in 6 months.

If you were appointed maybe Denis wouldn't be, wouldn't you rather replace him? Oh right he is some kind of Uber bloke that holds reign over everyone and everything and can never be toppled! Oh wait . . .

Oh pulease, Suncorp are three times the size of ours and 10 times better. Pot shot?? I thought I gave you a wrap. "Uber bloke" ???? are you fair dinkum? Bye Mark I have had enough of this sh*t!

Fair enough, that could prove to be a bit risky though with lots of variances from one year to another. At the same time, depending on the nature of events, it could also be a winner.

Ideally, you'd want the certainty provided by locking in another tenant.

The A-League franchise would be ideal as it would provide for a continual 12 month use of the stadium.

Indeed, I just wonder what sort of costs are we going to get involved with if we were to manage the stadium.

The most recent case of this is Energy Australia Stadium, the Knights "Manage" that but are asking the Jets to pay to play there. The problem comes in that while the Jets have failed to pay to Play, the Knights have also not paid the State Government for their managerial rights. That cost according to media reports is twice what the knights are asking the Jets to pay.

So it would appear that this would incur a cost. Is it the same as the $40,000 per event to throw open the gates? Is it less, or is it more? Do we lock ourselves into Parramatta Stadium and hence forgo $200,000 or so of "free Money" by having two games at ANZ Stadium

From what I have heard the Sydney Rovers FC have a small but "Loyal" group of fans that are already calling for the club to be based at Parramatta Stadium.

The current trust should be working their arses off to get the Rovers to play there.

I agree but I think the Rovers consortium are waiting for the outcome of the World Cup bid or something like that, I am not sure.

It wouldn't be the First time the Stadium has hosted a Soccer side, before the Power, United played at Parramatta Stadium for a year.

Don't know why they'd be waiting for that??
Any facilities provided by a successful announcement wouldn't be in place for at least 10 years. :?

I am just going on what I have heard.

I do know that ANZ Stadium is out of the contest for "Most" games with a few of the Bid teams and out of all of them for another.

I think the Consortium's are thinking Rovers vs FC would have been at ANZ.

Yeah, they'd still need somewhere to play in the meantime. :?

I wonder if this is really where the push for the stadium out of Blacktown has come from?

Indeed. :? Don't forget, this is only what MITS has heard. ;-)

I wouldn't have thought that Rovers would have that much pull yet.

Suity

Yeah, it's just speculation.

It would make a hell of a lot of sense for them to play out of a stadium purpose built for football, in a high growth area.

Just further on today.

I was keen to look further into this subject today.
I was told when I bought tickets at the eastern ticket sales office at 12.45 that I couldn't get two seats together in the Cronin Stand. That was the first crock of sh*t today as there were plenty of seats available upon later inspection. In fact, rows of them.
Secondly, and this is my fault due to my own ignorance, but I couldn't get my 15% discount on tickets for being a member, because the discount doesn't apply to purchases on match day. I wonder how many other people know or don't know that?

Thirdly, the bar service was unsurprisingly atrocious. 3 people in a confined space serving one person at a time. It was Laural and Hardy stuff.

This leads me onto the ticket checking procedures.
I was in the eastern concourse, and I was freely able to walk into the Cronin Stand catering areas. I was able to walk into the O'Reilly bar (I think it's called) and buy beers, while I looked at the unsuspecting people in the eastern concourse (where I was actually sitting) and the shockingly long queue to get a beer. I bought my beers quickly, and headed back past those people to my seat.
What's going to happen to the bar in the Cronin stand when people in the eastern concourse realise they can walk into the O'Reilly bar and buy their beers?
And why should people who pay a premium to sit in the Cronin Stand have to put up with further delays in catering in their own area because it has been opened up to more areas.

The stadium is suffering from menopause, and it is high time that they realised that a little expenditure will ease many problems.

Suity

EXACTLY!!!!!
This is obviously the reason why all this double-checking has come about just that we didn't really notice it last week. I too noticed this week that the gates for the terrace were wide open but yet the stadium people are PUNISHED for this by way of having to PROVE where our seats are.... I note that NO-ONE was checking the terrace people going back through.
So ultimately the terrace people get to use the stands food and bar lines and can walk freely back to their seats, but the stand people are threatened with expulsion from the ground if we don't prove we are who we are.
Yup... that is GOOD MANAGEMENT.

Here's an idea.... if the drinks line is too long and you need to alleviate the lines put in those temporary bars that serve beer and that will cut down the actual bar lines in the multitudes!!!!!!
For food/nonalco drinks... let's introduce the little stands back that just have drinks and ice cream and packs of chips. I can't remeber the last time I saw those people going around with the portable drink and ice cream 'bags' and serving people in the aisles.

oh please do tell more twizzle

id love to see hear what pete has to say on how things were use to run back in the days of cumberland oval.

During my days at Cumberland, you could bring your own grog, tucker, eskies etc.
Me and my mates used to bring Eskies full of Tooheys Flag Ale, stand on the Cumberland Hill, opposite end to the Leagues Club, and close to the Grandstand, but not in the Grandstand Section.
We usually had a Pub counter lunch on the way, and drove home after the game. No lining up for tucker for us, it was a different World then..in the early sixties. But I would not trade my memories of that era for ANYTHING. Following Parra in those days was tribal,
When I look back now at the things we got up to in 'those days' I shudder.
The only ground, from memory, we had trouble getting into with an Esky was Brookvale Oval. We got knocked back, so just sat out in the Car Park, missed the Third and Second grades, and demolished the contents of the esky..
We were bloody idiots, that's for sure. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
