MADRID -- Diego Forlan is joining Inter Milan after Atletico Madrid agreed to sell the Uruguay striker to the Serie A club.

Forlan, who will fill the vacant striker spot left after Samuel Eto'o's departure for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, announced his departure from Atletico at a news conference Monday at the club's Vicente Calderon stadium.

"It's not everyday you get the chance to play for Inter Milan at 32. Let's hope I can meet expectations," Forlan said. "It's a great club with great players fighting for major trophies. I hope to adapt quickly."

Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Forlan will not be allowed to take part in Champions League play for Inter unless it reaches the knockout stages since he already featured for Atletico in Europa League qualifying this summer.

Sad to see him go. But he deserves to be playing on big stages.

Something of a shifting of the guard at Atletico.

How is Falcao worth the same, if not more than Fabregas?:?
Because he's better...? ;-)

Porto would not sell under the release clause, but Atletico covered it and threw the cheque book at Falcao. He chose the money over glory.
Can't blame him really, as he's going to earn a pornographic amount of money, if he gets paid that is...

Falcao didn't play this weekend because Atletico hasn't paid, and Porto won't release his certificate until they do. Maybe Forlan's money will help? :sarcasm:

MANCHESTER CITY have signed Owen Hargreaves.

The former Manchester United midfielder successfully completed a medical today and penned a contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Free agent Hargreaves has been without a club since he was released by United at the end of last season.

Pretty good gig for him. His body has shown that it's not capable of being fit week-in week-out, which shouldn't be a problem at City. I'm sure the pay packet is decent as well.

Roma have agreed a deal with Lyon to sign Miralem Pjanic for €11 million. Pending medical today and personal terms.

Finally! Very good signing in my opinion, he wouldn't start if we are at full strength but he is a very handy player to have.

Confirmed.

He is in Rome right now for his medical. Very happy with this one, and it came out of nowhere.

On another note, why didn't Arsenal try and sign Scott Parker!? Or Lassana Diarra? Very odd.

Spurs agreed to terms with Lass then he upped his wage demands to 135K a week, last I heard he was talking to you guys.

Parker is a good player. Why wouldn't we be excited? No question we desperately need another striker and centre-back though.

I don't understand the Meireles transfer. Liverpool should have held on to him IMO.

Basically the last owners promised him a pay rise if he performed well last season, which he did. But we weren't able to give him the wages he wanted so he handed in a transfer request. Plus he was never going to start especially with Gerard coming back.

Fair enough, I still think that they should have tried harder to keep him. Look at the Arsenal game, in control but not really creating much, then he and Suarez come on and bang bang. Suarez had a great combination with Meireles and it's a crazy move IMO.

Besides the Merieles transfer, I think we did really well. Brought in some good young talent and got rid of a lot of the deadwood.
