NRL 2023: NRL dominates AFL in Queensland TV ratings, massive numbers for Dolphins-Broncos The introduction of the Dolphins has triggered an epic NRL broadcast ratings boost, with last week’s Battle of Brisbane producing a TV ratings bonanza. Peter Badel and Phil Rothfield March 26, 2023 -...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Those numbers for the Broncos v Dolphins match are just huge. The NRL need to use this as leverage and introduce a new team from Perth in the 2025 or 2026 season. Start the competitive tension now but use the AFL negotiating tactic of not fighting with Fox but just letting them know that all...

    18th club, whose next?

Perth. Established junior league, willing franchise and supportive state government. Perth also has a Rugby League history and gets good crowds to NRL games already played there.

The basket case that are the Suns apparently bring in extra dollars for the AFL so a Rugby League team in Adelaide would surely have to add dollars to any NRL deal. The big problem is whether our management could sell this.

To be fair the Lions and Suns only still exist thanks to years of bailouts from the AFL. Saying that the AFL does have the extra cash to prop up these expansion basket cases.

If that turns out to be the case then looks like Fox lose the NRL at the next rights deal. Good luck paying those AFL rights when more than half their subscribers flee en masse to a competitor.

    2021 RLWC (B) Wk1 - AUS 42-8 FIJ @ Leeds

How good was the ref compared to the lot we have here. Penalised teams for leaving early in defence and just generally stayed out of the game. The thing I liked most from the ref was him marching a team back 10 for dissent. Hunt looked like a 7 forced to play 9 and our attack stepped up a gear...

I agree. An 18th team gives the NRL some leverage with Fox and Nine. Here's hoping they have the gumption to do it and a new player can not only add money to the existing rights deal but start some early tension for the next deal. Fox and Nein would have to put their hands deep into their...

Like Doc Brown stated could the NRL bring in a Perth team before the next deal and play the 9th game in a timeslot that doesn't compete with existing games say Sunday night and sell this 9th game to say Ten/Paramount if Fox and/or Nein won't stump up any extra cash? Would create competitive...

As I said before I have this horrible feeling and conspiracy theory that PVL has done a shit deal for the NRL because he somehow gains favour with Newscorp for Racing NSW. Besides him being totally incompetent why else would he extend our deal during Covid without going to an open tender???
