    Rumoured targets 2

The club that picks up Ferguson is profiting from the hard work and misfortune of the Canberra Raiders and will be loathed by Raiders fans. I guess it makes it easier for everyone that he turns up at the knights then...

    2013 full strength line up

I disagree like a few others but, to elaborate beyond "f**k Gidley", I think Gidley will provide a lot of value as starting hooker next season with maybe Gower but more likely Clydesdale coming off the bench. However, at the moment I would rather have Gower ahead of Gidley in #14 while...

Kevin 'What do we do with you' Naqaima

I've seen most of his games playing union and while I've seen him play centre, I've never seen him DEFEND at centre. In fact, I've never seen him defend at wing either. Pretty much: he doesn't defend. I'm no expert on the requirements of a league centre but putting a turn-style like Vuna...

    Ah-kwilla You-ah-tay

But this is the crux of the issue. Uate was critical to our attack because he needed to provide a threat all of his own. Without him a backline looked very limp. But that's because the centres were struggling. With all this future building and development, I hope Newcastle matures into a...

    Round 22 | Knights vs Bulldogs @ Hunter | Sat 5.30pm

I hope this comes a very expensive habit next year.

    Will we make the 8?

Haha I think this could very well be the case. For the record, I wasn't claiming that Houston was making the right side impregnable (and it isn't a slight against Houston either), only suggesting it might be a key factor behind Wayne's reasoning in choosing who plays where.

    Will we make the 8?

Could it be that Wayne chalks this up to Houston's influence? That would explain why WB has persisted with him there despite his impotency in attack and the general census he is better suited to the ruck.

    Rumoured targets thread

This is accurate. The reason why he cripples a union backline is his lack of pace, it wouldn't be as severe a problem in rugby league; plenty of successful less-than-lightning centres and backrowers. He's a personality player but a cleanskin off the field. I love to hate him but I would agree...

    Sins of the father

I would've sworn blind that Brett Stewart was famous because of his football ability. Thanks for clearing that up.

    Vuna isn't a Wallaby

    Our team in 12 months

Kids, this is why you should do your research. I could claim that I was thinking a little more long term but considering the thread title I don't have a leg to stand on. In that case, is Naiqama likely to wait around long enough? Surely we haven't kept him a secret that well. If Wes isn't in...

    Our team in 12 months

I'm suprised those are the only two you have a problem with. I get the feeling Jimmy is too good to stay on low dosh. I don't think Wayne is comfortable paying heaps for one winger let alone two so while I'd be stoked if Jimmy stayed, I'm preparing myself for his desertion. I acknowledge...

    Our team in 12 months

I've been thinking about Finch too. I think he's better than just a band-aid and could do the job we need of him. But I don't think he'd come for peanuts. The word at Wigan is he would really like to extend his contract but he has offers coming from all over the SL. If he did come back to the...

Cooper Vuna on loving the Knights

Vuna didn't make the Wallabies side for the Newcastle test. His spot was taken by fellow NZ born league-convert Joe Tomane (Titans).

Tooheys column in todays Sunday Telegraph

Oh I agree for sure. He isn't particularly good (and not particularly not-Australian for that matter) so I suppose he doesn't quite fit the rumour but after all the talk last year... Wayne certainly likes him.

Would Wayne be chasing Nathan Fien again?

Guys who left vs. guys who came in

Be careful taking the opinon of rugby journos, they're no better than their league counterparts. Being considered as a wallaby is more a reflection of the state of union wingers than Vuna's form. Most of Australia's top flight wingers have had season ending injuries or issues with suspensions...

    2012 NSW soo side..

He's clearly seen Mal put a club fullback into the QLD 1, 2 and 3 jerseys and decided THAT was the reason for their success. Who knows; maybe Ricky has actually figured out the secret. That or he's an idiot.

    2012 NSW soo side..

Anyone else worried by the prospect of Hayne defending Inglis? I'd hardly call Uate a top performing defender either. Surely, a Hayne-Uate right edge would be totally shredded.
