    Ricky Stuart Blowing Up Deluxe

Seriously though, discretionary penalties are the bane of the modern game. (which most these weren't) When a ref can pull a play the ball penalty out of nowhere for one team but not the other...it is painful!!!! And he is 100% right in saying the game is turning into super league era touch...

    Refereeing 2013

In general the game flowed pretty well.... still think the attacking team is getting away with surrendering in tackles too much or basically hitting he defence and diving to the ground touch footy style... if they allow this you will just see the one out boring footy we have been getting. I...

I wonder how this is going to effect Souffs...

Why would you want to be married when you are a millionaire star anyway. The marriage and relationship has served its purpose and produced children for them both...she will find a toy boy who will do a better job than rusty when it counts and he will hang out with 20 something year old actresses...

The ARLC must tackle wrestling in NRL

I like the wrestle... It stops too many dummy half runs. If you want to beat it then use a good off load and create 2nd phase footy and play some footy off the back of that..this is what leagues about not fast play the balls with dummy half runs and safety first footy. Why would a team try to...

Tim Gilbert to commentate NSW Cup Grand Final

Cant agree more...call the game play by play..it done my head in..they spoke about so much outside of the actual play for the majority of the game. I tried putting the radio on but it was out of sync. Spoilt the whole experience.

Watching Classic Grand Finals on Fox this week

One thing with the athleticism is that the big guys today have way better lateral movement in defence whci reduces gaps. Also, most games back in those days was played in daylight so had less dew on the pitch and ball. This means you could play more width in attack without being slid out in...

Papalii turns his back on Kiwis

Its funny how the same guys ringing talk back about this saying he should play for his country of origin (NZ) are probably the same guys that want all people from non english back grounds such as lebanese/Asian etc to pledge their allegiance to Australia for everything. Seems like its OK to...

    Manly - 2013

I reckon once a team wins a comp it must be so hard to get up again the following year....especially if you do have some bad luck..then depth gets tested etc. Mentally a player must think, Ive checked that box...so many players never get to do it. MAnly have been up for a while now and some of...

Brothers in Arms - Rabbitohs and Bulldogs

Souths actually eventually lost the case when it went to appeal.but they were admitted back after they won the first case ... by the time of the appeal it was too late and would have been a PR disaster to remove them again. So technically the criteria was found to be legal In relation the...

    '12 | 2nd SF | Sat | Rabbitohs 38-16 Raiders | ANZ

That try came on the back of Sam Burgess hitting the defence and falling to get a quick play the ball. Surrender tackle should have been called. Thats touch footy not rugby league. But I guess thats the way the game is played these days.. not a fan.

    Benefit of the doubt.

Exactly.. I still want the stats of how many of the tries that go to the vid ref for a decision are off bombs. Most tries where they invoke BOD are usually from scrappy poorly executed plays which most footy fans would agree do not deserve a try. I don't know about last night...maybe he...

Slight flaw in the new finals system?

And so it shouldn't really considering the impact origin and the uneven draw has on the final placings. Not just the games the players are not available for as byes assist here, but the games players back up for etc...the whole period is a distraction tot he teams with representation. The...

    TV rights thread part 4

I think the biggest thing besides cash was to remove the first and last rights option that were contractually in place until another 10 years or more (Someoen else can give the exact details). This was huge to have this clause removed from the current rights and moving forward. It will allow...

    TV rights thread part 4

If you're talking about my post which was shifted... I'm a die hard league person, been a member for around 10 years but somehow lost my original name. I don't post a lot however but like to read and chime in occasionally. I posted it out of curiosity on how they get their figures which have...

"When Souths are going well, rugby league is going well"

Hard to disagree that Souths making the GF would be huge because they've done bugger all for so long..you'de expect every one to come back out and the general story itself would be a good story. It would be massive this year or next or when they finally do something useful. Same with Cronulla...

"When Souths are going well, rugby league is going well"

Comprehension is obviously not your strong point. I know if I owned TV station which teams I would want going well from a marketing and advertisement point of view. If souths stopped existing tomorrow the game would not miss a heart beat as it didnt when they were not in the comp.(same...

Attention Idiots who love wringing their hands about "bad crowds" in the NRL.

I don't see how fixing schedules will make a huge difference at all to crowd averages (Cowboys aside) Maybe to a couple of 100 people per game or something but not that much of a diff. The main thing that influences crowds is form..first and foremost. When parra went on their winning streak on...

"When Souths are going well, rugby league is going well"

I think when Parra are doing well then rugby league is doing well. Not a fan at all ... but strategically this is the heart of it all, encompassing the old working class suburbs in the area and the newer middle class hills district where so many of the kids who grew up in the old areas now...

    Benefit of the doubt.

You make a fair argument..I'de be happy to see at least in the instance of a bomb that the try should be conclusive. I just hate those messy type of tries and it sells our game short. If you cant execute cleanly then bad luck. Ive seen the same type of tries come up with different rulings...
