How dare they decide after five years that they no longer want to give away home ground advantage
and so now instead of marching in the middle of sydney and going to the footy in (near enough to) the middle of sydney these diggers now have to catch a train out to hombush, and back, long travel times and taking away from the atmosphere behind the whole day.

Not to mention the souless cavern that is ANZ stadium. Hell dragons fans are pissed off they are playing all there games including this one out there. At the sfs given dry conditions we could easily get back to the 25-30 k crowds that werent so high last year due to 1 win between each side and it pissing down in sydney. 25-30 k, hell 19000 at the sfs is a much better atmosphere and day than anything at the olympic stadium also.

I'll still be there, i dont miss this game, but it will have an effect on the crowd.

Not bad at all. Thats the top crowd for either code of Rugby in Canberra this year, beating the Brumbies highest crowd of 15,244 against the Queensland Reds.

Would've been the first time we've outstripped the Brumbies crowd when playing on the same weekend since the mid-late nineties. The tide has turned....

in a few years time, i think the brumbies will have given up on canberra, especially if crowds keep falling.

after AFL failed there as well, it wouldnt surprise me to see the raiders averaging closer to 20,000 in a few years

I strongly doubt the brumbies will leave Canberra. They've had an up and down year. I guarantee that the crowd for the brumbies this coming weekend will be atleast 18k

Yeah there seemed to be a healthy crowd there, massive lines for ticket sales before kickoff. I think they got over 14,000 the week before against the Tigers as well.

looks like the Mondayitis bug has hit in bigtime into Canberra. Out of the 3 MNF games they've hosted (vs Newcastle, Syd Roosters and Melbourne), they've got pretty good crowds, in comparison to other teams. I think MNF does have a lot of potential to attract big crowds, with proper promotion, special offers and also holding matches near CBD areas, not out in places like Campbelltown, Penrith etc. I mean, how are ppl suppose to get there from the city in time for the 7pm kickoff? Even Nth QLD, it's a very vast area, supporters travel hundreds of kms just to get to Cowboys home games.

The other teams that I think will draw good home attendances at MNF games are Gold Coast and Brisbane. Both of Brisbane's MNF home games last year got over 25,000 and their game vs Tigers (in raining weather) got nearly 30,000. I know Broncos haven't had a home MNF game yet, but if they get one against a good side, I think they could draw just as much as a Friday Night home game.

Also, if Melbourne played the MNF home matches at Telstra Dome, they can get some good crowds too. Their 20,000+ vs Warriors was impressive, considering how hot it had been in Melbourne earlier that day.

yeah prices would have a lot to do with it. Although I don't think we have had poor crowds, I think after handling of the Muzz saga, the fact we sucked a$$ in the early rounds, may have made the crowds drop a couple of thou. I think this week you will see a fairly full stadium. The prices are starting to get out of hand though, I went for a family ticket in the stand this year as it was $100 cheaper than 2 adults (me and the wife don't have any kids) so go figure how the hell that works????????? More seats for less $$$$...

Get kids to the game. $100 cheaper?

Not sure if I've done this right but...

If the Titans had played Brisbane at Suncorp this year (like they did last year) and got the same 48,000 crowd figure they got last year the year average would be 18,313.

(I got that by adding the extra 21,000 to the season total and dividing it again by the 48 games played so far. Please correct me if it's wrong)

Pity they didn't cause it would put us ahead for the season to date.

Considering the Brumbies are owned by ACT rugby I'm not sure what you think they would do or where they would go if they didnt play in Canberra.

This weekend should put us ahead.

Broncos v Souths has already pre-sold over 23K, so is well on track for 30K.
Titans v Warriors has already pre-sold over 18K, so we should get 22-23K there.
Cowboys v Storm is on track for over 20K.
Sea Eagles v Bulldogs is on track for 16K+
Sharks v Tigers is on track for a similar margin
Dragons v Roosters is past the 11K mark already, putting it on track for a 20K crowd.

So long as the weather stays good, it should be a good weekend for the NRL.

yak and his insight.

gotta love it.

Dragons v Roosters will get less than it would have got at the SFS. Simple as that.

I'm sick of ANZ and it is only round 6. Can't imagine how negative i will be at the end of the year ... :(
