That’s a shame about the injuries.
I googled his age. He will be 23 this year. Only signed until the end of 2024. I suspect this season is make or break at the club for him. Fair assessment?

Fair.

Like Mav, He must do all the right things at training to move up to this level

He moved down here straight from school during Covid. So lost a couple years there which hasn't helped

Journalists love making out that the end of the Panthers dynasty started after the 2021 Premiership (as shown in the attached photo).
The reality is that the Panthers won again in 2022 and 2023 and the core of this team will be outstanding in 2024 with the following 10 players still there:
Dylan Edwards
Brian To’o
Jerome Luai
Nathan Cleary
Isaah Yeo
Liam Martin
Scott Sorensen
James Fisher Harris
Moses Leota
Mitch Kenny.
Many teams in the NRL would love to have these players in their team.

On top of that we have seen the rise of Izack Tago, Taylan May, Sunia Turuva,
Lindsay Smith, Luke Garner, Zac Hocking, Soni Luke and the return of Tyrone Peachey etc etc
Also there are some very good juniors coming through including Liam Henry, Maverick Geyer, Jack Cole, Jesse McLean, Harrison Hassett, Luke Somerton etc etc

The future still looks good so they can death ride the Panthers as much as they like but I am looking forward to the 2024 season.
IN IVAN WE TRUST.
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU ❤️💛💚🖤🏆🏆🏆🐾🐾🐾🐾

Going to be fascinating to see who partners Tago in the centres. After seeing photos of Tiny May (he looks to have put on some lean muscle). I think he might be front runner.

I notice that NRL.com had the Peach at centre. I'm not sure. I thought he'd slot in at 14.

Anyone else on the radar ?

May will 100% start the year at centre and Peach should be in cup. He far exceeded expectations last year but we need to blood youth to replace Luai and 14 is the best spot to start

Do you think perhaps Sommerton starts at 14 or is there someone who can play most spots in the backline and perhaps full in a little at Hooker. I don't see many of the kids these days ?

I'd start Sommerton there until Kenny is match fit to play 80 then rotate through the options for Luai's spot

Peachey won't start. 14 if we want gametime i Cup for Cole. Even Alamonti has him covered in defence

Luai shouldn't start the season. No point rushing him back. Cleary missed a month follow that plan. We need him firing at the finals over playing a full season.

That should give a good look at 6's for next year

we did ok with SOS partnering Luai round 1-4 2022 - if we have Nathan available - just give Romey time

no point rushing him in for the start of the season

If Laurie truly is being set up as a playing half in the 5’8 role - how are Iongi’s chances of debuting in 2024 (in the off chance Dyl misses a game or two season either through injury or rest)?
Is Iongi the true back up fullback now? Or is it more a case of shuffling the current first grade backs line up?

1. Iongi
2. Turuva
3. Tago
4. May/McLean/Alamoti
5. To’o

or

1. Turuva
2. May
3. Tago
4. Alamoti/Peachy/Garner/McLean
5. To’o

Iongi moving into the FT squad next season shows they have a plan fir him.

for me it depends how long Edwards is out for, resting him for a week then I's go option 2.

If not option 1.

Iongi is a ball player so not sure he'd work on the wing, too small for a half. So I am keen to see the plan for him

I'd play Turuva but I doubt the club would want him in the shop window like that. He truly belongs running the ball in the middle of the field.

If the planets align, it's not impossible that Dyl might be out due to SOO selection.
