ADELAIDE TEST: Australia v India Dec 9-13 2014

Haddin always struggles in situations like this because he always looks to play very straight. The second new ball was nibbling around a bit and light was fading.

Still our best by a light year.
He's not. He's 37. His keeping has never been outstanding and it's declining. His batting likewise has been dreadful. He had a magic summer last year but he has scored 71 runs in 6 test matches since then. even since he came back in the side last year he is averaging sub 30 in test cricket, despite that home series last year.

Nevill scores runs and keeps well in f/c cricket, as does Whiteman, Hartley and others. There are numerous options to replace him. The only thing keeping him in the side at present is Clarkes dodgy hamstring and the lack of other captaincy options, given Smith is still establishing himself and no one else is an option.

If you think Haddin is light years ahead you are deluded.

If they drop Haddin, they will 100% go for Wade. Nobody wants to see that.

Can't be any worse than Haddin has been in the last lets say 8 months. I seriously hope we don't have Haddin in the WC as well. Wade did more in one series than Haddin has done for years in ODI's. I hate Wade, but jeez Haddin has been awful, and his dismissal last night was just lazy, no footwork and gutless to send a night watchman in 45 minutes before stumps! Would a great keeper send a night watchman in then?

Not sure if you are being sarcastic..

Neville is the next in line...

Nope not being sarcastic, big fan of Wade's batting,i realise he is mentally challenged with the gloves on occasions but have faith he can improve.

I don't like any of the other keepers.

Always good to win any toss, not sure how big it is as Adelaide generally bats better in days 2-3. Not like the sub continent where it progressively gets worse. We have seen many sides over the years clock up big 1st innings when they bat 2nd here.

All relative on how India bat and we bowl though

Yeah, for sure, and won't deteriorate like the ones in the Middle East... Nonetheless, batting first is a good advantage here... Warner's pace has kept both teams in it

The nightwatchman move looked more of a team decision in the hope Clarke would make a miracle recovery. It didn't work but I like the thought behind it.

Also sometimes that happens, you get a good cherry early in your innings and you are in your way. In hindsight, the ones that let us down a bit were Watto and Marsh who both got starts only to get out for sub par totals. Watto played a crap shot and Marsh was set and should have been eyeing a 50 or hundred.

Haddin won't be dropped this series, especially if Clarke isn't fit, he will not only play but skipper the side.

I think Wade needs to go down the Sangakarra route and give up the gloves and try to focus on his batting, he is good enough and would expect his batting to improve without the extra job.

Yeah i would agree and it might sound ridiculous but he could even attempt to become an all-rounder,Wade is a better batsmen than Marsh,Maxwell,Faulkner, and maybe even Spud Watson as well(Spud Watto is pretty good in ODI's in all fairness) and none of those 4 are great bowlers.

Anything wrong with that bowling? looks a very nice bowling action in my view and he has good consistent medium pace, surely he isn't a worse bowler than Spud Watson and Spudwell at least.

If only Matt Wade wasn't a goat with the gloves cos he has good potential with the bat and is only 26 years old.i take his batting ability over the others but the f**ker can't keep for shit.

I would definitely take Matt Wade's batting ability over the rest of the keepers any day but sadly he is a Wazn with the gloves.

Australia's batting already looks pretty weak with Rogers,Watson and Marsh in there in the top 6,if you add a a new keeper(who in my opinion are not as good as Matt Wade with the bat) than it looks even more f**ked.

Matt Wade should be selected for his batting and we pray he doesn't stuff up behind the stumps imo.

It's such a shame that Wade is a bit of a donkey with the gloves because i really like his batting,he actually has a better first class batting average and a better Test batting average than Haddin.

Why you donkey behind the stumps Wade:(

If Australia were 6-85 i have faith the gutsy Wade would get us out of trouble,if we were 6-85 i have faith we would get bowled out for 120 with Neville/Handscomb/Carters.

Ol mate Wade can bat under pressure, learn to keep ffs bro.

Its not a typical Adelaide pitch, this is a new drop in and we don't know how it will age over the 5 days

like Locky, you dont have a clue

Im pretty sure everyone on the planet would agree that Wade struggles behind the stumps and has alot of talent with the bat(which is pretty much what i have been saying throughout the whole thread)

You're a dope.

oh yeah, he's a gun

Oh no brah he is nowhere near as gun as the following guns who have batted for Australia in recent times

Khawaja
Cowan
Watson
Rogers
M Marsh
S Marsh
Bailey
Maxwell

Matt Wade hang your head in shame young fella for having less batting talent than those guns above you, you're a disgrace.

so you don't rate MMarsh ??

case closed

An incredible selection to have someone who is averaging 29 with the bat in first class cricket to bat at number 6 for Australia(how embarrassing),Mitch Marsh is in the team solely because the selectors are obsessed with finding an Aussie version of Freddie Flintoff.

Matt Wade playing at number 6 as a specialist batsmen would have been a better selection than picking yet another mediocre all-rounder.

You have no idea just like the Aussie selectors.
