New Melbourne Stadium

It'll easily be the best stadium in the competition upon it's completion. I'm sure there'll be many who say Suncorp holds 50 odd thousand which makes it superior but as great as that stadium is, i've had the "pleasure" 0of sitting in the top tier about 10 rows from the back and IMO it was absolutely sh*tful given it was so high. In Melbourne's new stadium you won't have that problem with 31K and there won't be a bad seat in the house.

a joke comparison if there ever was one.

I sat in the back corner of the first game ever. It was good. I've sat in the corners, fine, the sides (front, center, edge), all fine. Views fine anywhere at Suncorp

You ARE up the back, so you get the idea its NOT LIKE being at the front.

You know, wiser and more travelled people than yourself have claimed Suncorp is one of the best viewing stadia in the world and used the exact words "not a bad seat in the house" many times.

Yet here you are begging to dither. You are entitled to your opinion, but I am entitled to tell you how irrelevant it is, especially in reality. I dont know what you are after but you must be after a stadium with 5-10 rows on each tier.

Suncorp is still the best. But its not about being the best really, even though there has to be a best. There is only good and bad. Both stadia will be good.

The stands at suncorp are steep (and high) for a reason....to fit 52,000 people the distance away from the pitch that they are.

Look at the mestalla for a comparison, both are excellent examples of steep stands and both are rated as one of the best for viewing in the world.

The melbourne stadium will not be as steep, but it wont have to be.

I agree that Robina is the best stadium atm but as mentioned this will top it. From what i can gather they're pretty similar seating wise but the Tits stadium is a bit more basic.

That said it still kills nearly every other stadium in the comp and it's certainly among the best. A Melbourne stadium and 2 Queensland stadiums as the best 3 in the comp, who'd have imagined that 5 or 10 years ago while not having 1 in the games heartland!

Robina is basic. Suncorp has heaps more function rooms, etc. Robina is geared toward viewing and this is good. Now, on other so-called stadiums, such as many in sydney...they are a blight on the game....crowds keep away, clubs can't make money from them, they have poor access and views.

ANY TEAM would love to have Robina as its home ground, its nothing to sniff at. Suncorp is a stadium that just spoils a team. World Class. Robina is not world class, but it is very good. Now, sydney suburban grounds are whats labelled as dung piles. Now thats a term you can find around the world too, as teams tend to be desparate to move away from such stadiums....oh...forgot who we are talking too....the hill people....well Hello, Hobbits!!

I haven't decided whether it's spectacular or a mess. Either way, it's certainly striking.

Having seen it up close it is spectacular and will be a massive boost for the Storm. If they can't get up around the 17-20,000 in that ground they never will.

Awsome stadium. Storm just need to make it known that it's their stadium and not the soccers. Who gets first dibs? Has schedule changed again.

Both will be using it, but at present the Storm is likely to host the first match there.

PBB not missing another chance to bash Sydney for no apparaent reason. Good to see he's consistent at least.

I'm sure the new stadium will be a brilliant place to watch footy, but what is the go with the weird globular lattices on the outside?

Good stuff :clap::clap:

Storm wont know themselves, i know us Titans fans hated Carrara, but didn't realize how much until Skilled was opened.

Great step for League and the storm congrats

That lighting looks awesome.

By the looks it's gonna be called Olympic Park as well, until a naming rights sponsor jumps on board?

What are the plans for the current OP anyway?

Checked the Stadium out while I was down there. From the outside, it looks stunning. Great location too, not far from the city and close to public transport. Sharing with the Soccer team should not be a problem and seeing the climate for those sports competing with AFL, probably best for financial reasons.

From all reports Collingwood will be using OP as it's training ground.

Agree about the lighting as well, it's going to be one spectacular stadium that's for sure.
