Round 8 vs Souths

I'll have to watch it again. I suppose no matter what it would have been closer to a knock on than Dyl's one at the beginning of the game. That was a shocking call.

Yeah that was a metre backwards..

Another thing that really bothered me tonight and they did it so much it looked like a tactic but south continually dragged our players out or held them out of play whilst defending at marker.

Obviously a clear ploy to stop our line speed and give cook and Murray more space and time.

More than a dozen times I saw our players signal and get frustrated to the ref and he just let it go all night.

It was pretty bad

I’ll read you all tomorrow but is the sky falling because Souffs have reached a modern winning % against us equal to the Grerns vote? More painful we can’t possibly win with Salmon in the 17 type shit? Everything went their way for 79 f**king minutes and you’re going to lose 1 or 2 out of 10 to even the Tigers.

It was a good close game.

Considering Cleary was on one leg during the game we managed very well.

Nothing or no one could have stopped that last try. Sometimes you need to stand and applaud. Almost impossible to defend against. Souths were on fire within that last 7 mins.

Souths can do that to you.

Penrith did well to only lose by two points.

Some of the carryon here tonight is almost laughable.

Haha. All the luai haters.

That's what no kikau will do to a whole edge.

When you lose the best 2nd rower in the comp your whole team will struggle.

I'd go as far to say even I'd we'd kept him and lost api we'd have won all our tight games this year comfortably.

We are still learning how to play with kiks and api. If we can stay fit this year hopefully we can be around the 4th to 6th mark but the back end of the season and start to get into a grove after origin.

I said last week and will say again. What 6 would do better.

Every week we have a different edge backrower and Tago in horrible form, Both will improve as the year goes on

After cooling down a bit, I'm devastated to lose by throwing away a lead like that, but I can't be too unhappy. It was always going to be a very tough game, with the short turnaround, niggles and injuries to key forwards. Souths (like a few other teams this year) played out of their skin and still needed quite a bit of luck to barely pip us. I'd back us to take them in a big game all things being even.

Still don't think the doom and gloom is warranted. We're not quite where we were but we're still the benchmark of this competition and have a lot of improvement left in us.

Tago is going ok.

He's been much better to start the year than critta.

First time all season critta showed up tonight

Luai showed a few better signs tonight but he still should have stepped up more with Nathan playing hurt

He had 1/3rd of our linebreaks.

Put Hosking into a gap only for him to drop it. Turuva kept coming inside we the left side put him in space.

That sort of stuff hurts a half because makes them look like they aren't creating

Well cam Munster would.

But he's close to the best player in the game when fit and healthy.

But I agree... the issues aren't luai. I've never blamed him. It's a team issue

Tago is knocking on , on our 20-30m line playing the ball once a week. Just simple stupid shit
No doubt he needs to fix that.

But he's been much better than critta so far this year and his work rate has been top notch.

He's just turned 21 and is in basically his 2nd year of fg.

People that want to blame him or luai really aren't grasping the real issues

Sloppy Tago was back. Salmon got exposed at centre - just a little too slow and lacking fitness even when used in a pinch. No surprise we got pulled out of shape a few times on that edge with him there. I think Garner is a better edge and centre than him - just can't fill in the halves.

Luai looked better but honestly he is not worth near the 1 Million mark the media is beating up. He is a 2nd fiddle through and through.

Unlike a Nico Hynes or Cameron Munster - Luai can't take control of a game when need or something happens to his halves partner.

I am not super worried after this game but our aura of near invincibility is well and truly shattered. Not being able to put teams away despite dominating in stretches really hurts us.

Watch the Manly game again. 2 or 3 times Luai puts Tago away and unmarked Turuva doesn't get the ball.

No one in the side is hopeless, defence is epic but a few guys are down on form

I am blaming the left side as a whole.

Though Tonight the bench usage was a problem, Hosking had a shocker and got a breather. That mean't Salmon had to play forward minutes and was tired when he needed to go to centre.

Meanwhile Lindsay Smith and Eisenhuth played 46 mins combined.

If Kenny is playing 80 mins than we should have a 2nd rower on the bench

Luai had just as much to work on with his game as the rest of the team does to start clicking.

Only people the get an a+ to start the year are Edwards and yeo.

Nathan kicking game is great one week and average the next. He really does not have the consistency of say Adam Reynolds kicking game.

Cleary is better than Reynolds at his best... but Nathan kicking game is 100% one week 50 the next.

Reynolds kicking quality is at about 90% every week.

I really thought some of Nathan kicks tonight were so horrible. You just don't see that from Reynolds..

So there's lots of areas we can be better... even our best player is inconsistent atm..

Luai has just as much to work on as the rest of them bar Dylan and yeo

Haha you might have noticed Nathan didn't goalkick.....his leg wasn't right. If only we had a 6 that could take a few kicks from 50m+ out
