I think Luai will improve and I don’t think he was that bad last night but all this talk of kikau is really just saying Luai was never that good, kikau just made it easy for him.

Luai got no tries and 2 try assists for the season. He’s given away more penalties then set up or scored tries. Throw in forced drop outs and he’s stil given away more penalties.

The few times he’s played direct he’s looked ok but he’s way to sideways right now, sometimes he has a good run but many times it disorganises us as much as the opposing team, and creates just as many errors from our team. If he won’t just play straight most of the time find someone that will. Someone needs to tell him he’s no Munster so get back to basics at least until he can find some form.

Stats alone don't tell the full story, 1st set of the game Luai created a line break down the left. That on another night leads to a try.
Hosking put down a simple pass. He catches it is a try.

He could of easily of had 2 try assists in the 1st 20 mins. A few times we spread it Tago hogged it.
A couple of times Turuva stepped back in when he was outside his opposite.

Timing and combinations are what is hurting the attack. We are creating enough chances

Don’t play him then. He either plays or he doesn’t. Shouldn’t get a get out of jail free card because he’s playing injured.

He’ll come good so not too worried about his form but people can’t pick apart Luai and then not say a word about Cleary.

My point exactly. Anyone not named Edwards and possibly Leinu are not playing anywhere near their best.

We will come good, Hopefully still jag a Top 4 spot

Sloppy Tago was back. Salmon got exposed at centre - just a little too slow and lacking fitness even when used in a pinch. No surprise we got pulled out of shape a few times on that edge with him there. I think Garner is a better edge and centre than him - just can't fill in the halves.

Luai looked better but honestly he is not worth near the 1 Million mark the media is beating up. He is a 2nd fiddle through and through.

Unlike a Nico Hynes or Cameron Munster - Luai can't take control of a game when need or something happens to his halves partner.

I am not super worried after this game but our aura of near invincibility is well and truly shattered. Not being able to put teams away despite dominating in stretches really hurts us.
And us fans are still coming to terms with it. Gee we will miss Spencer next year.

Luke didn't stay on long again. I thought Kenny played well and that was Luai's best game. Last year Eisenhuth was great for us, now it's just one year too long.

For me that was a Try for Tago and not one for their 2nd last one. Last season we would have covered their last try. We gotta get some speed into the side as well.

Next week I'll expect a couple out.

the first one was nice play, he played direct and found Tago who himself had a good run and found Dylan, tbh i thought Luai could’ve just gone himself and found Dylan inside but either way a nice direct play from him leading to good things. Counting that hosking one as a try assist gone begging is laughable, yeah hosking should’ve caught it and gone on with a good run but he was nowhere near scoring it would’ve been a miracle for him to score from there.

Luai's inability to kick a football more than 30m is one of the main reasons he'll never play origin again.

Penrith badly need a hooker who can kick

Without Nathan we lose 13+

Yep. Nathan had some poor kicks yet still a try assist(almost 2) and forced drop out off the boot, he was involved in the rest of our tries and those defensive plays. Would we have been better served with cogger and Luai doing all the kicking? Would we have been in the game at all without Nathan poor kicking notwithstanding? There’s a world of difference between the positive impact Nathan and Jarome are having right now.

shame about Turuva injury - apart from cutting back in - his returns & carries just seemed to get better and better.

does Tiny play wing or centre next year?

That and the fact we butcher at least one try every single game

Two games in a row we've ignored the easy 2 points on offer and gone for the try (and come up empty), despite our attack being the drizzling shits up until that point.

Was twice last week (which would of avoided golden point), and tonight which would have forced golden point.

And that's on the coaching staff. As is moving Critta to the left after Tito went off, as is picking Eisenhuth, as is playing Kenny for 80mins each week etc etc.

And despite all this, we've lost 3 games this year by a combined total of 4 points (4 losses by 5pts if we include the WCC). We're still in this comp up to our eyeballs despite our injuries and lack of cohesion - I just hope Ivan doesn't overthink things.

We are also 1 win from 9th, So need to keep winning while we sort out stuff

Either way still was an attacking situation where an outside guy has let him down. Which is a common theme across the season. Last pass or not passing in some cases. Means the attack is falling down when they are doing plenty right

He is an off the cuff eyes up player, perfect foil for the robotic/follow the gameplan type that Cleary is

You don't think the left has less time without Kikau? He would attract 2 defenders and as such even as a decoy would create space.

Every week there is a different edge forward out there, So that will take time to know how they play and what lines they run and so on.

A short off season, most on here expected a slow start and we are seeing it

There was a point south's were so fatigued half of them could barely stand and Murray looked like he was about to be sick. World Cup Luai bends them over right there and ends the game. Club Luai looks like a dear in headlights because he's missing kikau. Kikau being out doesn't mean Luai can't execute a 5th tackle play.

I've never seen a player have so many excuses made for him. He IS a good footballer and he IS playing like shit

How many quick play the balls did we get at time?

There was like 6 head cuts alone. Stop start footy doesn't suit us. Sutton allows slow ruck speed. The 20-22 teams had the individual talent to combat that. This years side doesn't

Did you see some of Clearys last tackle kicks tonight? Very selective viewing by the Burto fan boys.

Not sure what Burton has to do with this. Cleary was confirmed to have a niggle and wasn't goal kicking. Seems a reasonable excuse.
