Well, it's half time and the eels have a good lead (18-4) over the warriors, the spoon is all but certain now, if it wasn't already.

It's shit right. We've had a dud year. Benji has been poor. The recruiting has been poor and the retention has been poor since we lost Stef even though he is an overpaid non entity at this point.

I really hope they turn it around next year but geez they need to make good signings and recruitment decisions.

We were in the box seat to miss it as we have a bye up our sleeve( as far as I'm aware) and the eels don't

Well, we have 5 rounds left, to avoid a 3rd spoon:(

Newcastle
Rabbits
Manly
Bye
Parra

Our points differential imo, means we need at least 2 wins plus the bye to get in front of Parra.
Providing of course, Parra don’t win any more games.

Though the Rabbits and Parra games give us a slim chance.

Parra do have a tough last 5 games.
Penrith
Roosters
Broncos
Drags
Us- the battle for the spoon

Next year:(

Another shit year, but to be completely honest I was expecting this. There were some massive positives that came out of it in Galvin, TPS, Porter and the Fainu brothers, then it was great to see Bula, Api and Pole continuing their form. Add in Luai and Turuva and we are starting to see a team that will lift itself off the bottom 4.

We have huge cap space for 2025 so I expect to see some signings coming through. Hearing Corey Horesburgh is on our radar, and some players in England rumoured to be Richo targets.

spoons ours, our best chance of a win was v the cowboys and the olam send off saw to that

give us a very small chance v souths if olams out

basically, no chance v knights and manly

They won't be laughing when the spoon drawer is so full they can't all fit in.

The team with the worst roster in the competition is looking like a title we will hold onto as well.
It's the most depressing aspect of our failures, continually having a crap roster.
If you take Bateman for example. He is an aging small edge fwd who is not up to the pressure of the NRL. Because he's running on tin legs his aggressive energizer style outshines his physical statue and skill level which results in him getting frustrated, he then gives away dumb penalties or gets sin binned. On the otherhand you have a near copy of him in Sharks fwd Nikora. They are the same height and weight however the difference is Nikora is 4 yrs younger and is at his peak. I was praying a couple of years ago to nab him as he would have developed into a better player than Bateman.
This is just one example of the type of player that we tend to recruit .
Russell Packer, Ben Matulino, Joey Leilua bla bla bla.
We often pay big dollars for players who have dicky knees and or at the end of their careers. If they are good players with no baggage we pay overs.
Once we start losing, these players buzz off and the coaching merry go round starts.
The only thing we've done different is we've got rid of the board and it's toxic culture, so I'm hoping that a player like Luai can instill some winning culture into the joint and players like Galvin and the other good young players stick around and get into a crocodile roll ;)

This post has got me starting to believe again.
Why do we do it to ourselves. :)
Hey Jim, is there a new avatar in the pipeline?
