    Agree. As league fans we have to realise our game is now run by the NRL clubs and News Corp/V'landys. All decisions are based on what's best for the clubs and the bottom line, the game comes second.

    You also have to factor in News Corps decision to go down the spoerts betting road this I believe is why Vlandys did a long deal. NCorp need league to drive this side of their business and Vlandys was happy to do a long deal to help them bed it in. He is a saint afterall just ask news corp...

    Smith did a good deal with nine considering Free to air is on it's last legs. Good enough deal to upset Rupert. I was referring to V'landys as rushing it through.

    It's not as valuable as Western Sydney is it, otherwise the AFL wouldn't waste their money on GWS and the NRL would have a team in Perth. I for one would love a team in Perth but the powers that be just aren't interested, so it could be suggested that Perth isn't a high priority to them, why?

    Now we know why News Ltd drove out Smith and co. Smith new the true value of the game and was going to take it to market, Murdoch couldnt afford to lose it or Foxtel would be stuffed.

    TV reach into western Sydney is huge for advertisers which equates to big bucks, this is why Packer loved league.

    WA BEARS

    News Ltd own the game the NRL just runs it on their behalf. They have always said Wa is not a high priority for them the game can still get national sponsors without Perth and Adelaide.
