The things that Girds is talking about are all observations that people like Cronk, Slater and Johns have made in the media.

It amazes me that the only people that don’t sing his praises, are on this website.

What a pointless comment. Cronk said we should think about moving Critta to fullback late last season after he filled for Edwards during a game ftr. Those guys are paid to say things and they praise a lot of people. Never heard one of them say Dylan is harder to replace in our team than Nathan or that he is a top 3 fullback that is for certain.

Haha Rich coming from the king of pointless comments. You constantly say things like “that’s my opinion and no one will change it”

no one cares, no one is trying to change your mind.

Just know, that your opinion is different to what most people who know anything about rugby league think.

I’ve heard Cronk, Slater and Johns all say that Edwards on the back of last season has moved him self into the top bracket of fullbacks playing the game.

I give evidence to support my opinions before i say something like that like I have in this instance in regards to our defence and Dylan. Obviously you do care or you wouldnt be replying to me acting salty.

I admitted to underestimating Edwards but the idea he's harder to replace than Cleary is pretty silly. Nathan is not only the best half but the best player in the game now.
I maintain that our Half Back stocks are better than our FB stocks. As long as our back three are getting us into good ball area, we have the half backs to get the job done.

Obviously we do it much better with Nathan in the team. He’s the best half back in the world.

But a lot of our success comes from our kick returns and starts to sets, Dylan is a massive part of that. In my opinion, that is far less effective when he’s not playing and it has a flow on effect through the rest of the team.

We simply don’t have a fullback that comes close to being able to this stuff.

It amazes me that ive been saying EXACTLY the same stuff about edwards for years..

Yet now some say im overratting or talking him up to much haha..

I was saying exactly what im saying this year last year and years before. Nothings changed!

Only difference is last year westy and co hammered me with the whole staines and or critta have to be fb, edwards offers nothing in attack etc etc..

Just scorned posters. Now hes basically carried us to a gf on one leg, and is the best fb to start the year this year.... im overratting him haha.

Just a bit of a laugh. As you say, almost all people that have played the game at the highest level see and speak about his value... i just domt get it..

This. We have also learnt to play without him.

we score less but grind out wins

Though either doesn't play we aren't winning the comp

The experts Luke so readily brought up as praising Dylan were also heaping praise on Critter as a fullback last year. Calling for the switch to be permanent even calling him Turbo 2.0 but we are supposed to ignore that and pretend we dont have an excellent back up at fullback but take the things they said about Dylan as gospel, the whole conversation is ridiculous.

And Girds Dylan did not carry us to a GF that is just crazy, he was excellent but to say he carried us to a gf is just delusion and really trying to down play the whole team in order to talk up Dylan and you want to call us scorned posters, again its just ridiculous.

We won a lot more than we lost without Dylan last year. If we are talking about starting sets being the most imprtant thing in our team than Brian To'o is by far and away the most important player in the team and its not close.

yeah, after Edwards has caught the ball on the full and ran it back 30 or so meters and then a quick play the ball.

But let’s not give him any credit for being the right place every time….

When did I not give him credit? Im just pointing out Bizza was by far the best tough metre maker in the league last year, not just our team the entire league he led in total metres average, post contact metres average. But yeah lets put all Bizza's good work down to Dylan.

Critter is an amazing Athlete with the potential to be a great fullback. But he isn’t there yet. It takes years to master that position. No one is saying that he doesn’t have the potential to be really good fullback.

I agree with what they said last year and I Agree with what they are saying now.

I have to go back and watch the game highlights to get specific moments

But @Original Name mentioned an example where Edwards support play was missing and we lost a semi 16-10.

There were a few examples in the Manly game at Brookie of Crichton being out of position. So much so Staines ended up back there at the end of the game. I will see if I get time today to watch the kayo mini and highlight the moments.

To'o is big too but Parra trial was perfect example of you can keep one of it but you can't both

Tackle busts

They are 1 and 2.

Runs of more then 8 m

They are 1 and 2

So stuff like that it works well to have the double punch when coming off the line

I Bizza is definitely in the top two wingers in the game, his running is incredible and a massive help to us. You will never hear me putting his work down.

I just don’t understand why you can see how much great work he does, but you fail to recognise the work of the bloke who catches the ball the play before and sets him up??

I think our back three are close to the best in the league at this part of the game, they each play their part.

Of course we missed certain things with Dylan being out he is very good fullback. But that one finals game i think is the only loss we suffered with out Dylan playing, not 100 percent on that but he missed a couple games towards the start of the year that we won. He went off at half time in the first storm game and we won. He went off very early in the last round game against souths and Critter had an almost man of the match performance replacing him for the rest of it and we won. I am not saying Dylan isnt an excellent full back, I am saying I think he is overrated by some and that Critter is an excellent back up to Dylan, more so than Sean is to Nathan. Sean has been good but Critter is on another level or two talent wise compared to sean and has had better games at fullback then sean has had at halfback. The difference between Nathan and Sean is huge, the difference between Critter and Dylan is mostly just fitness and experience IMO. I know plenty wont like this but give Critter time in the position and he could easily end up a better fullback than dylan, sean is never going to come close to the half back that nathan is.

If he is the best in the game. Yeo is a close number 2
We also have the best 9 in the game - Although Grant will catch him with more games
Then of course Luai is good for a try assist a game.

We don't get as many repeat sets but how many times are we kicking under pressure?

We start our sets well and instead of kicking from our own 30m line. We are closer to halfway which means it is easier for the kicker. We are still burying teams in their own half, Just last the variety inside the 20m line

Yep they did say that about critta, well specifically i think it was just warren ryan. But most others praised his attacking skills back there. That was mid season and than edwards came back and dominated the back half of the year and was just intrumental in us getting to the gf. If you choose to think he wasnt thats fine. The opinion of betcats doesnt really mean much when basically every commentator thats played the game at the highest level has said as much about dyl.

No one has said critta couldnt fill in well at fb, or even staines.. i havent! Ive always maintained if someone better can push him out thats great for panthers. Personally i think critta could be a very good fb. He has a lot of the skills needed. But hes work ethic for mine is what lets him down and its where dylan shines through.

To be a great number 1 it all starts in the pre season..you have to be willing to go the extra mile. Fittest bloke on the field who can go to hell and back all day..

Its why latrell will never be a great fb. He does the flashy stuff so so well but man he can go mia when the going gets tough. He gets lazy at the back big time.. turbo is an absolute weapon in attack but boy can he be lazy in defence..

Not saying critta is unfit at all but theres been times over the last 18 months or so where critta has really gone mia when we need him to stand up at centre. And to an extent you can get by as a centre with the occasional mia game even if it isnt ideal. But at fb you cant. You can have mistakes and errors but you cant go mia..have to roll up the sleeves for your team. Even when fatigued or injured.

Right now, our team is a shitload better with dylan in the 1, a fact pretty much every commentator, ivan, brandy etc has acknowledged.

And betcats of course im not downplaying the rest of the team in the lead up to the gf lol. Get a grip. But overall i think youd be niave to say he wasnt the clear player of the finals series.. and probably unlucky not to get the mom for the gf. All on one leg.. ivan cleary really summed it up in the gf presser when talking about how tough dylan is and what he did for us.

Pretty done with the dylan arguments..same people been downplaying him for years. Gets a tad boring. Now hes on fire those same people just calling me out for overestimating him when my opinions never changed haha. It amazes me at times how willing some posters are on here to defend some players that clearly arent or werent having a dig, yet the players that were get hammered.

Can be a funny place these forums.

Haha ahh westy... nothings ever changed in my argument. You were wrong about edwards and admitted so yourself... but yet YOU still chose to call me out even tho i have said literally exactly the same thing for 3 years.. hahah. I didnt come in here calling you out even tho im well aware of your posting history in regards to edwards.. pretty embarrasing.
