You just know if Smith was out cold or had a broken jaw it would have been 12+. Injury should play no part in the decision

He isn't named this week.

Martin is due back either this week or next.

Who knows when or if Smith gets another game this year. He is off contract end of the year.

So even if he is not injured. It still has cost him the chance

I think the fact that Chris Smith managed not to be injured by the hit, was more good fortune than anything else.

Even though the JC aren't supposed to take injury into consideration. I'm sure sub consiously they do. It's human nature.

Also very hard to prove that a hit was intentional.

Is round 14 an origin week? Either way I think we'll put 50 on them

Here is a tip Staines won't be at club long term imo. Too and May are the wingers
After Tyrone May was let go Taylan posted a message on Instagram that said "SMH there's no loyalty anymore it's just a business." Which being delusional about the club standing by Tyrone and continuing to contract him when he didn't play for two years aside seems to indicate to me the guy's going to bitch to negotiate with and would probably take as big a contract as he can get once he makes a name for himself. Whereas we know Staines wants to be here at least.

My point is not that Critter or anyone else can organise defence as well as Edwards, it is that we are an extremely good defensive side with or without Dylan. It held up last year just fine the games he was out. We are a very talented squad that is extremely well drilled and committed defensively.
We are an extremley good defensive side. Very well drilled. But how many tries did dylan save last year? Honestly there was games he had 2 or 3 certain try saves, some back to back on opposites sides of the field.... Our 12 point defensive conceding is probs nowhere near that low if he doesnt save the 15 to 20 certain tries throughout the year that he did.

Critta did an admiral job at fb. But hes work off the ball was well well down. Its well known dylan is the fittest at the club. Hence why he just gets through so much work, including not the fancy stuff shown in stats.

Critta could be a good fb.. but we have a great one and critta is a good centre atm who we need to get to elite levels.

What game did he have back to back try saves on opposite sides of the field? Our defence was great without him you can’t move me off that point.

I underestimated Edwards and it looks like you're overestimating him.

Cant remember exact games without rewatching mate. I commented about it on here at the time.. so youd be able to search my posts.

Our defence was great without him. But i think your missing the point. Critta wasnt as good at the back as directing traffic, cleaning up kicks, or just covering the pure distance edwards does. I mean, critta admitted so himself haha... You cant measure what dylan does in stats... its actually not measured. Supercoach or nrl.com or fox dont measure try saving plays, distance covered off the ball(sometime in origin they do), cleaning up kicks efficency. That stuffs just not measured and its the stuff that dylan leads the other fbs in.

And hes attacking stats are right up there too, from memory i think he was 3 or 4 for avg meters for fbs last year, 3rd or 4th for tackle breaks etc. And that was with a bung foot for the back half of the year on one leg. Pretty early days so far this year but hes basically leading the way for fbs.

No one is saying we are poor defensivley or were without edwards last year. But theres no doubt he adds soo much to our defence when hes in.. hes just everywhere.

I said after rd 1 this year on here dylan was calling the shots as much as yeo... after every try dylan was yelling in the huddles pointing at players etc. Believe what you want but hes a leader at the back.

I dont over estimate him as westy said. I just appreaciate how good he is and have done for years.. i know dylans limitations.

If staines or critta can become good enough to push edwards out thats fantastic as it will mean theyve developed into something really special.. but i cant see it happening for either.. critta could potentially develop there over time but we are too weak at centre to move him. Charlies impressed me this year but he is going to have huge competition on his hands just to hold a wing spot.

Any elaboration or just laugh emoji? @Girds89
Haha mate the fact you think i over estimate him is just a laugh hence the emoji.

I have never ever once claimed edwards was perfect. Ive always said hes never going to be a teddy or turbo in attack.

But ive always maintained hes just a really solid reliable great defensive fb who gets the job done time and time again for penrith. He is so valuable to our club..

Been saying it for years. Nothings changed.

Now your saying i over estimate him lol.

Well he was a bees d away from winning the clive churchill. We really got to the gf off his back and on one leg. Hes started this year the best fb in the comp.

Those are just observations made my commentators and journalists on multiple platforms.

So yeah. Laughing emoji that you think i over estimate him haha.

Have always said if someone can push him out thats brilliant for penrith👌

You can measure some of what Edwards brings looking at the first week of finals against Souths last year when Yeo made the break up the middle had no support with Crichton playing and got tackled compared to 2020 when Edwards was trailing up the middle against Souths following a Yeo break and scored to get us into the gf.

Crichton will probably be there in support if the break is made in the 12th minute but what about the 60th an intense game? Not everyone has the engine to run at one pace forever like Edwards or Gutherson no matter how hard they train. Edwards has trained himself to the limit but that high ceiling of stamina is a natural talent as much as Crichton's agility for his size or his skill level is. It's a natural talent that Crichton, Staines, Turuva or whoever might not necessarily have and if so would have to pace themselves a bit more to compensate.

Turuva certainly looks big enough that for him to be in that mould would be incredible. Even if he trains with an incredible work ethic I'd expect for him to have his hand on head breathing in deeply a lot in a tough game like Tedesco does.

Laughing thing isn't an issue by itself it just doesn't help understand your side of it.

You are definitely taking traits Edwards has shown and are exaggerating it to make your point.

You literally just said our average conceded points would not have been the same without Dylan in the comment I replied too. I am over this you are just throwing out things that are hard to check like try savers and stats you havent actually checked yourself, not saying you are wrong but there is just no value to this conversation i watch the same Edwards you do I know what he is good at and not. I think some here including you are overrating him now sorry it that bothers you but its just an opinion.

The things that Girds is talking about are all observations that people like Cronk, Slater and Johns have made in the media.

It amazes me that the only people that don’t sing his praises, are on this website.
