So here we are, near the end, of the season we never want to end. 'We' meaning Warriors fans, of course.
Let's start with the bye, my deep Parra mole met me in our usual spot this week (my workplace) and came to 'wish me luck for the finals'! What a turnaround! I've spent the last few years talking about Parra's chances and now it's us. What a feeling.
Tonight, Broncos host Melbourne. It should've been a marquee game but both sides are taking the soft/pre-cautionary option of resting players pre-finals. It's been a long season, good on them, but there's still a lot to play for - the minor-premiership for starters, plus who other sides play in week one of the finals.
Friday, Manly and the Tigers. The latter had so much hope in the pre-season but their season was a disaster. If they finish with a win, watch pre-season training attract thousands again! Manly? The coach might be the issue. It was tough following on from Dessie. The Rabbitohs v Roosters will lack a bit of bite now that the villians - Mitchell and Waerea-Hargreaves - are out.
Saturday, Penrith are going all out to end the Cowboys' season, whilst testing combinations and game-day moves, as they push for another minor and major premiership. The Dolphins? After some early excitement they just get a solid pass mark for their first season, and there's a chance for a good win to end it, with the Warriors' eyes firmly on bigger things.
The Dragons are good enough to burst Newcastle's - now Ponga-less - bubble. However, the Knights have done so well to storm into the finals.
Sunday, GC v Canterbury, two poor seasons about to end and we finish with a beauty, the Sharks hosting Canberra. The Raiders must win, the Sharks need to in order to gain some credibility for the big game/s ahead.
This round will be some ride! Like the 2023 season in general. Enjoy.
