Round 3 V Newcastle

Skeletor knew he had had one shot and used it expertly.

Put his team onto the easy side of the draw with the week off.

Made sure the two teams that put 50 on his earlier in the season were on a collision course pre GF.

Souths were the underdogs week 1. Bennett knew this and baited Ivan. He wanted a greater pressure influence on Nathan's kicking for his rookie Fullback. The plan work. We were thrown off our game.

The thing is. it was the best thing for us.

How good to see Taylan May in the team! I have a funny feeling he’ll be very hard to dislodge.

Exciting times, I’m looking forward to this one! I just wish I could get out to Bathurst! It’s definitely on my bucket list.

Agree. I seen him a few times and he looks good. However Staines has been ok also early on.
Tago has filled Burton's role. Different style but a tougher player. May adds power again. All of a sudden you have 1 - 5 all breaking tackles with Luai hard to handle in space.

Ahh here I was thinking the stacked roster got the wins.

Someone better tell Freddy not to name NSW 1-17... or series lost

That was response was tongue in cheek, as coldwetpanther said ask a silly question get a silly answer. My original point was not that his team list changes help us win, it was that we are winning games so who gives a shit if he makes some changes to the 17 named to play between tuesday and gameday? If that is part of his coaching style then just go with it I just dont understand why it matters to you and others so much that the team changes between Tuesday and gameday. Its one thing to discuss what changes may happen but to use it as something to be critical about just seems silly to me.

I think it's kind of funny but I don't think Nathan is a mind game thing. They'd just be getting close to him playing as round 4 was said originally and he'd be about 100% by now and just passing the fitness tests.

Take Round 1.
That would of been perfect time to announce Nathan is playing. Put him in 7 only for him to drop out an hour before the game.

That would of really taken the pressure off SOS which is why Ivan said he played along with it.

As Smug said. He may need or want to hide a debut or an injury and doing it every week makes it hard when the time comes

Kick chase is too important to us. The 7 is getting targetted regardless. Name him in 7 and get on with it or keep him out an extra week

I don't think it's got anything to do with hiding Nathan since, like you said, targeting the halfback is standard. It just gives them flexibility to give him as long as possible for them to decide whether to play him.

We played extremely well in round one and Sos was very good so i dont why that would matter and I thought you said elite clubs dont play mind games?

I read a story once about a coach shifting two props around on game day. Apparently they only did it because the players wanted to keep that number on their back.

The club went the other way and it worked! They didn't need to name Nathan and put up with all the media BS leading into round 1 of whether he was playing or not.
SOS knew after the 2nd trial he would be playing round 1. It gave him time to prepare and he credited Nathan helping him. That approach didn't effect his game one bit.
The players know what is going on.
The Knights now have to prepare for both scenarios by naming Nathan this week. As opposed to not naming him and just doing homework for SOS at HB.
I have no doubt Nathan knows if he is playing this weekend or not.
Hasler does it all the time when Turbo comes back from injury. Frankly I don't care.

I have read stories about a certain prop being too fat to fit in a jersey. So they had to keep naming him in a different number. Irrespective of what number was on his back

They don't

I was just using an example of when you would do it.

Unless some one is coming into the 17 then it just takes the talk away from the side.

Take this week. Every game preview for us will be is Cleary playing

I'd rather the focus be on how good Yeo is going right now or something. That is my issue with it

So what changed from

He will play when we know he is 100%

to now?

Either he is right or he isn't
