We still have a very good team. I don’t see why we wouldn’t be comfortable favourites.

I do agree that the Knights at $3.50 are juicy odds, but I think that’s about right.

I am not a betting lady, can you, please, explain betting odds? All I know is the higher the price the better return one gets on their money.
How it works if the betting agency thinks it will be close or a draw they offer odds of $1.90 same for both teams .meaning 90 cents back for every dollar bet.now if a person come in and bets big money say $1000 they will lower the odds for that team and raise the odds from $1.90 to $2.10 for the other team
Bookies don’t want all bets on one team as it could be a huge loss for them
The odds most times come down to what team gets the most money bet on them rather than who is playing

If they get too much on one team they can lay off with another bookie. This has the effect of evening up the amount bet on the two options overall. It's a dark art but overall they clean up, as evidenced by all the ads and sponsorships.

Very interesting now Ponga is confirmed out.

Bit more optimistic about it now. They won't get so many easy points like they did last week against the Tigers.

Back in the 1960's had an uncle in Dorrigo who was an SP bookie. In those days before automatic telephone exchange.Used to have a line kept open to a bookie in Sydney so he could off load bets if needed.

I was a part time manager at the Old Bidwill Clock in the early eighties the SP was on old Bunnies legend. It was always a bit of fun when the pub was raided by the Gaming Squad albeit on most occasions we had advance warning.

SP bookie?
Starting Price Bookmaker. Term given given to then illegal bookmakers who largely operated in pubs and clubs when there were no in-house tab facilities. They largely became obsolete once pubs and clubs started having in house Tab
facilities and haven’t existed now for a long time.

I have heard of the term before, I was unaware that they are illegal. Thanks.

One of my fondest memories was hearing my Uncle's SP bookie stories at a wake (after my Dad's death).

My dear Uncle was such a story teller too.
