    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

At a certain point the club will need to identify the guys that they want to replace Yeo, Cleary, Luai and Edwards. None are urgent but we also don’t want it to happen all at once and we don’t want the right kid for the job to move along because the spot isn’t there. Some of these guys might...

    Rd 21 v Bulldogs

We’ve lost 15 games in the past 4 years. They consist of 4 to Parra, 3 to Storm and 2 to Bunnies, the best of the rest so far this decade. The other 6 include 2 to the Cows resting half/all of our side and 1 to each of the Sharks and Tigers in an Origin week. The final 2 are this year, 1 to the...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Until Nath starts getting on I like the idea of bringing in a fairly experienced true halfback looking to revive their career on a 1-2 year deal. None of these boom kids are going to step in and play his role well. Flanagan would be an outstanding option.

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

May is locked in until end of 2024. If Tago could move to edge forward I think it'd solve a lot of balance problems we have. Martin could move to the middle to replace Leniu's impact role (but bigger minutes), Tago can cover the backs in case of injury, while adding a different skillset to...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Would still be happy to take a flyer on Blore coming back. Another guy who could well flourish in our system, fits the mould perfectly. Laurie is an odd one for me. May is surely first up to replace Critta. Jenkins, Cole & McLean make more sense as backups for wing/centre. Iongi/McLean/Turuva...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

To my knowledge Tago actually had very limited time in Cup given COVID. First half of 2021 would of been it? Did he play any Flegg in 2020? There obviously weren't many games played.. He's definitely an outlier, most need to go through both comps for a decent stint.

    Rd 21 v Bulldogs

Luke has been disappointing the last few months but he was great with limited minutes yesterday. Changed the pace of the game and we looked a lot more dangerous off the back of it. I’m not sure how much more a Hosking adds vs 15 mins of Luke though. No one is taking Martin off in a big game so...

    State of origin series

Drinkwater/Edwards, To’o, Latrell, Staggs/Graham/Critta, Hynes/Moses, Cleary, Jurbo, Robson, Haas, Martin, Koloamatangi, Murray, Api, Yeo, Leniu/RCG, TBC utility Fullback/five eighth based on form and how the new (hopefully) coach wants the side to play. Left edge picks itself if fit, the right...

    Panthers lower grades thread 2023

Yeah all Origin players rested based on the cup side. Cleary likely given another week as they should. Get the 2 points tomorrow, blow some rust off with the full side back next week against the Dogs and we are in a good spot for the final 6 week run in.

    Rd 20 v Dolphins

Edwards, Turuva, Peachey, Tago, Jenkins, Luai, Cogger, Leota, Kenny, Fish, Sorenson, Hosking, Eisenhuth, Luke, Salmon, Leniu, Smith That pack is going to be tough for the Dolphins to handle. It might not be pretty but its a fresh side and I can very much see this being a trademark Penrith 24-10...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Luai was the best player at the world cup and dragged a rotating spine cast of CHT, Danny Levi, Milford & Nu Brown to the final. He's played his role in a team built around Yeo/Cleary perfectly. He should not have been picked for Origin this year, he was dreadfully out of form for the first half...

    Other games

Agree that Hook played a crucial role in transforming the culture and character of the club towards what it is now. He was never going to be the guy to take us over the top, didn’t trust his room enough, but Ivan appears to have learnt throughout his career, rather than being a natural and by...

Yep Hardaker was it. Jesus he’s only 31, feels like an age ago.

    Panthers Unpopularity XIII

Who was that highly rated Pommie we brought over in the Elliott era? Either back or half. Complete flop. Played a handful of games, sucked and pissed off. Not an uncommon story amongst SL players but the only one we’ve been part of in the NRL era as far as I can remember.

    Panthers lower grades thread 2023

Couple sharp scoots and decent service/defence. Hasn’t done anything incredible but I’d hope he has been tasked with just playing a simple and effective game.

    Rd 18 v Storm

Martin running at NAS I'd say is even money. NAS running at Martin and NAS's ribs are the only thing losing. Agree Luke needs a stint in Cup. Kenny has improved to the point of being vaguely ok but both service & defence gets worse when Luke comes on and we're not seeing much the other way in...

    Other games

I've got Penrith clear ahead at this point on the weight of a functioning defence, experience and being able to deliver at 90% every single week. Parra, Souths & Melbourne remain our biggest threats. They each have the class to beat us but lack the consistency to avoid getting pulverised by...

    State of origin series

It's odd, Luai does act like a wanker and seems to take it too far in Origin. In club games he is quite disciplined and happy playing his limited role. He certainly fulfils his role for us of driving opposition mad and pumping our guys tyres up. I thought he looked a lot more dangerous and...

    State of origin series

Looking at the way this side has played for a number of years its really hard to judge individual players. You have elite players like Api, Cleary, Moses, Cook, Walker, Yeo, Haas, Murray all rotating through the side and looking like trash organising a play. There are no issues dominating the...

    Rd.16 v’s Cowboys

Some teams use their fullbacks as an inside centre, we don’t. Edwards certainly doesn’t get the juicy ball some fullbacks do. It would be interesting to see how he would fare in that role these days. Start of last year basic shifts broke down when they got to him he was that clunky but now our...
